Okay..sorry shi peng, but i had NO celebration whatsoever today. Watched the Philyouth concert before eating dinner with my family..so yeah..
Err, Good job luck koon! But tuba section was like blasting and all during the concert. Haha.
Expected a grander horn sound! Takes years of experience i guess.
Trumpet/cornet sound wasn't nice! No blend. ):
Trombones and Euphoniums could hardly be heard.
Percussion wasn't bad! The highlight piece was probably concerto for Drumset i guess..haha.
Okayy. so yupp.
Concert is in like,6days time.
Helping out with admin plus making sure i can play is going to be fun. Hahaha.
Finale band was damn zhai. Haha! (:

eh concert is like in 12 days time, all of us playin must work hard la haha. Phil youth concert is on the 5th of aug haha its like this sun!!! anyway tix is 10bucks. Okay haha those ppl like luck koon, ben thia, brenna, sasi, marcus, wei cheah, chen lin and who ever i missed out but playin for the concert and those ppl in phil youth GOOD LUCK yea!! Haha oh ya ah ji's and my (shipeng) birthday is on 5th august yea haha *hint*. Haha no thanks for any tau pok or cromming!!! Shall stop here for today. Those havin common test study hard & good luck haha.

Erm those coming tomorrow meeting at Senkang MRT at 4.30pm.
Those coming at another date/time is at Blk J, unit : 1908, Costa Sands. Well, most probably not going swimming, so there is no need to bring swimming trunks lo. Bring money man, ALOT. Haha. BBQ on thursday, so yea.

Seeking New Chalet
Since we did not get the chalet from my mother company, and that if you are all still interested in having a chalet, I would recommended that we book a chalet asap. Do any of ur parents have any NTUC member or something, so that we can book a chalet at a cheaper price>? If you all are still interested, pls quickly tell us if you have any information about the chalet...eg: the price and location and we will all spilt the bill among our section. We will then discuss to see if everyone is interested in it.....PLEASE DO THIS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!!!

Hmm actually abt the ensemble pieces also can go to
www.jwpepper.com and halleonard.com to find these ensemble pieces. For tuba but most of them are solo accompanied by piano thats y is hard to find one. But there is some ensemble pieces for tuba which is unaccompanied by the piano. For the grades i dun no bcos the pieces never stated wat is the grade .Hmm these are onli some suggestion from mi hope to find one pieces that is suitable for all of us. Exams are around the corner....

Hey people, regarding the section chalet that benedict brought up the other time... my mum should be able to book the chalet for us ( free of charge ) from her company, date: should be in dec after the sec4s 'o' level.... so if u all are still interested in the chalet...pls tell me the dates asap...dateline: end of september. the two places are sentosa and pasir ris so you choose one.
* Once the chalet is book and you dont use it, the fine is $100.
So better decide properly.....btw who is still interested???

Hey,i just found out from kevin, his uncle runs an instrument shop. Apparently, tubas are sold that for about NINE HUNDRED PLUS DOLLARS. The quality won't be so good la, but, NINE HUNDRED. Lol just saying...and...
They will be importing PARANTUCHI mouthpieces next MONTH. One for $130. Erm he said if we buy many at one time, he will probably add 'gifts' like blue juice..etc. Well like that no need import liao rite? So whoever want just say lor. So i can tell Kevin. They only going to import 200. So yea its limited.

Hey peeps.. first time postin something over here yup. Just wanna say that i enjpy all e good times wif u guys. Getting into trouble and celebrating for all the happy occasion especially on 6 aug. Just wanna say a few things to u guys.
Sec 4s: It has really been a pleasant experience to throughout this four years. We went through thick and thin together. From surviving john's wrath than Mr glosz's angry moments. I understand some of us lik me will go poly while e others to jc. As we each go our parting ways, let us remember god's grace and what he has been done for our section.
Sec 3s: Now that we have left. You will be e leaders of the section. Dont care bout the numbers. Just focus on the task ahead and improve our section and bring it to greater heights. you all can de. Shi Peng, remember dont get too relax bout anything wrong. Solve it immediately. Dont wait for tomorrow....thats when trouble starts to surface. Shawn, Dont b so blur le. I know u hav been practicing hard. Continue that good attitude and remember, guide your juniors. For they will be the future pillars of the band. So sec 3s...its now your job. So do it right.
Sec 2s: 2 years.. Its been 2 years since we saw you came in and taught you from nothing to something. Now that its our time to leave. Carry on from here and next year when your very own sec 1s come, Impart to them what we have taught u. And also strive to always improve yourself. Luck Koon, dont get too complacement. I know u are one of e better players since u came in. But remember, e section is only as strong as its weakest player. So dont only focus on yourself. the are other ppl round u. Get what i mean.. Ah ji and sheridan. Improve on your tonguing as well as your tone. Dont laugh lucky. that goes the same for you. Also remember to buzz your mouthpieces
AT HOME. that helps. Yup. that's all bout it.. I will want to see an improvement next time i step into the bandroom again.
Sec 1s: Listen to the sec 3s and follow their instructions. They mean well. And work hard on your playing skills.

Work hard. The spirit of the Tuba section will live on. Now its in your hands. Make it soar to greater heights.

Hi tubist, time really past very fast...so fast that I have to say farewell to this wonderful section that had been with me for the four years of my life, through out this four years...i really did enjoy my time with you guys especially with my current batch...we have gone through numerous bad times and good times...and even manage to pull through during the bad times...eg : when we were in sec 1...dec Band Camp..
Hahaz, from the time i started typing this post...i was thinking what should I say to my section..Yup...clueless..coz memories are hard to express in verbal words...anyway...to my juniors..
Shi peng: you are the new SL now...better start working hard to bring up the section...hope to see the tuba section continue on it legacy...being one of the top or the top section in SASMB..
Shawn: continue to be brave to play whatever solo u have to play in the future...remember you are in the same batch as shipeng...so work together with him...and stop being a sotong...hahaz..
For my direct juniors...luck koon, zi jie, sheridan...really had a fun time with you guys...strive for the best...be committed..and help each other when the rest are in need..everyone works together, everyone is at fault if there is a mistake made...unity is the key to success..

Sighs...as i write all these...memories,both good and bad, are rushing back to my head...the times we got screwed...the pep talks...the punishments...section outings..jokin around...i am so touched by all these...band has definitely changed my life...dun think i will ever look back...band is so tiring and time consuming...but all is worth it..after every accomplishment u do...even little things like being able to play a bar u nvr knew u could...or a better tone...and big things like 6th august...though its one piece for me,i can see all the hard work paying off...Our section is united,and hopefully,we will get the best section award!! If we work hard...someday..we will...well even if we don't,we know that our section is united. Well signing off liao! Thanks everybody!! =)

To all my seniors ur nv know the pain of having ur "family members" leaving u well i had that and was seriously heartbroken when the sec 4 said gdbye to me that moment.. at vch i told jian why ur zhao le?? was crying really badly... he told me dun cry ( still got time to crack jokes to me).
K well enuff of sad things nw we will open the time capsule to when i was a small little kid in sec 1
First day in band woohoo jian hui show off us to edgar.we were sitting next to the french horn section at the canteen then we were talking yeah then there were two tubas there one is the baby tuba one is the big gold tuba i took the mouthpiece and played the baby tuba then jian suddenly turned back and said hey to edgar, he can play low b flat haha=) i was like over the moon over that comment. can still rem that he was wearing the total 90 street soccer shoes. after that he ask us to run round the basketball court 2 rounds haha i was like run for??? lolz nvm my senior ask then run lor.. gogogogogogogogogogogogogo after that he ask us to bend down and take a deep breath and release and sofore he said like tat can increase our diaphram like wth is a diaphram?! k enuff of grandma story, then when everything settled down and then one day i came to the bandroom then nicholas told me eh today we are learning to play concert D and Eb. yeah get to learn new notes, i can still remb him teaching me how to play concert D thx nic!!! in the band camp too when we were given defying gravity he was sitting beside me and he taught me how to play tripler lol haha even though he always say he suk nah he is A GREAT SENIOR! all the best for ur o levels!haha seth the next one always say i suck up to him =( lol duno why la but he teach me alot too.Kenneth Boss!! ur dsa is being approved must study hard hor must come back and teach me!! actually when i was in sec 2 usually the sectionals is taken by seth and kenneth jian was playing with us benedict was playing with us too.Benedict ur great to be with but spend more time with us talking? when i was in sec 1 i scare of u leh.. lol we dun really talk much during band actually haha. thats all i have for u sec 4s!! hmm.. you know. the amount of time spent in the band has been countless. but isnt it all worth it? i guess i wanna thank all the people that have touched my life in one way or another. my seniors, my batchmates, my juniors. well.. what can i say. im thankful for everything kay. (:
the day that i got my juniors. what can i say. the same feeling as parenthood? HAHA. but yea. it gave me a sense of responsibilty. but who am i to say i fulfilled that responsibility.? =/

Zijie, sheridan. my direct juniors. seeing how you guys have turned out, i can leave the section with pride man. well, i can say you guys were the best of the lot. didnt give me a lot of trouble in terms of discipline & musically. im really glad that you guys were willing to practice and put in all that effort. so yea, as your direct senior. im here to say. IM PROUD OF YOU GUYS :D and seriously. i wanna see equally good grand juniors when i come back. yes, im coming back. ;)
shipeng & shawn. leaving the section all to you two now man. to be truthful, i have my doubts& worries over the future of the section. but yea, seeing how your juniors are turning out now, im sure you guys can take on the job of leading the section. seeing how bonded the section is now, the laughter and fun you guys have together, really puts a smile across my face. i sure hope you guys can always remember what the tuba section is built upon. what i've always emphasised.
FRIENDSHIP& COMMITMENT. no matter how good we are individually, we still come to points where unity overcomes everything. no matter how strong a stick is, its always harder to break ten sticks that are together compared to breaking one. i hope the point is proven. always turn to each other for help and foster bonds with each other. bonds that, i hope, will never ever be broken. have the will&determination to practice, not only for the sake of yourself, but for the sake of the section, band, mrglosz, and the excellence of music. seriously, let the music tune the skies.
dyon & cheeli. what to say. well.. dont really know the both of you well. but yea, i can sense the will to practice and succeed from the both of you. keep striving kay? the sky's the limit in terms of music and life. never ever hold back, for if you hold back, you lose the chance to succeed.
yea, the last note in my SASMB career was a dflat. its gonna be a memorable note aint it huh. before the 6th august concert, was just thinking. this is it huh. our last concert. our performance in the name of SASMB. im sure my batchmates understands how sad it is. for the juniors, you''ll truly understand it when your time comes okay. as the saying goes, you never miss it till its gone. how true that quote is. when you're in the band, you occasionally blame it for being so time consuming, leaving you with no free time. but after you leave it, you realise just how much more meaning band practices and performances bring to your life. all that wonderful/beautiful/touching music that we make. all the after practice soccer/basketball sessions. all the talking sessions. all the drills. you'll just miss it. how you no longer is gonna be a part of that anymore. its just different after you leave the band. you no longer think that its about the gold w/ honours, the top3, the esplanade performaces. you REALISE that its all about the band, the people, the sound. i remember when i was sec2, during a band camp. lower brasses were gonna play an ensemble. a senior came back and he said '' i havent heard this SASMB lower brass sound in a long long time.' it left an impression on me. it made me happy. we're gonna miss so many things man.
well, im sure the other sec4s feel the same. we truly truly love the band. and the section. i hope you guys remember all the times we've spent together kay? and you guys remember the words of my prayer just before the start of the concert. about the legacy of the band and the section. when i come back nxt year, when you're preparing for syf, i wanna see a section that is the same now. laughing , joking together. but musically, a much much stronger section that can not only add to the music, but enhance it. okay? im sure you guys will do it. i trust you guys.

i guess its time to say farewell. but not that i want to but all great things must come to an end. so does my 4 years in sasmb, i admit, i had the time of my life.
i guess its really a once in a life time experience. performing twice in esplanade. [and is still wish it could be 3] those countless performances in victoria concert hall and singapore conference hall and all those little parks. i enjoyed it all, at least, with my brothers, jianhui, kenneth and of course my juniors. and the rest of course. syf, presentation night, all memorable events. after watching you guys play at esplanade, i felt like crying. cause i was not a part of it. i could still remember jian talking about his last note in the band being a D flat. i wish i could say that but oh well.
anyway, my time has come and gone. so to my juniors i bid farewell. [okay, only till the Os end of course]
shipeng and shawn: syf is coming up next year. do justice to the section. make sure mr glosz will always be happy with our section
luck koon, zi jie, sheridan: your turn to have juniors soon. continue working hard so that you become better players.
dyon and cheeli: stop playing around already. time to work hard. and chee li. please dont follow in your brothers footsteps. haha.
to my batchmates. 4 years. we have endured all kinds of shit. 16 rounds the at midnight. 600 pushups in one practice. pop. esplanade concert. syf. presentation night. and the other concerts. thanks for being time. i really had the time of my life. so yeah guys. i hope this is not the end.

this section has make mi very proud ,although the tuba is heavy but its a instrument that can create a very nice low sound.haiz seniors the sec 4s this year 2006 are leaving, felt really rather sad all the things that u have though us we want to say (ty) 4 ever the band will miss ur by sec 1 Dyon yip
